Janet’s BiographyJanet E. Cosner is an award-winning educator who earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Kent State University and went on to teach English and History for nearly two decades. Her teaching career has always been about innovation and leadership. Janet launched and managed two schools: a school-within-a-school for at-risk students and another for ninth graders. She brought this innovative mindset to her development of The Formula Writing Program that has been utilized in hundreds of schools throughout Ohio. Besides reading, Janet strongly believes that writing is the second most important skill a student must learn in order to compete in the classroom and beyond. Her acclaimed workshops and Teacher Resource Workbooks are all geared toward instructing educators on how to teach students using the Formula Writing method, which Janet developed in accordance with the theories and principles of the noted educational psychologist and scholar Jerome Bruner. Bruner believed that students could learn more effectively if they understood and were taught that there was a structure underlying what they were learning. The Formula Writing Program does just that. Formulas For Success was launched in order to bring Janet’s Formula Writing Program to educators all over Ohio through the use of her teaching booklets and workshops. She has helped thousands of educators in hundreds of schools reach tens of thousands of students with her Formula Writing Program. Janet’s program has received high praise from all around the globe. The Formula Writing Video Series allows her to be with educators and students every step of the way leading them through her Teacher Resource Workbooks. |
