Toledo Area Schools

The Toledo School District is located in Northwestern Ohio. It is an urban district with about 30,000 students. Jan Cosner’s Formula Writing Program has been used extensively in the district. The district attributes a great deal of their improvement in standardized test scores to the program.

Here are a few examples of schools that have experienced success after learning formula writing:

Martin Luther King Elementary

Fourth grade test results went from 40% passing to 75% passing in one year.

Sixth grade test results went from 75% passing to 95% passing in one year.

Toledo Tech High School

Toledo Tech High School had the following results (passing rates) in 2005 on the Ohio Graduation Tests. Much of this success has been attributed to Janet Cosner’s Formula Writing Program.
